What Student Data Privacy Means for Classroom Educators

Digital devices and tools have clearly become an important part of the teaching and learning experience of almost every teacher and student nationwide. At the same time, stakeholders are concerned about the privacy of students’ data when they are using these tools. This session will make education data policies and regulations understandable at the classroom level. Based on the ten question checklist in the Educator’s Guide to Student Data Privacy, participants will learn strategies that will help them feel more confident about their own edtech choices and about how to talk with teacher colleagues and even students about what data privacy means.
